Analysis and Reports

Analysis in Google Analytics 4 Properties

Each new Analytics account includes Reports snapshot, Realtime, and report collections and topics that you can access from
Reports in the left navigation.

Explorations is a collection of advanced techniques that go beyond the standard reports to help you uncover deeper insights about your customers’ behavior.

Events and Conversions

Setup Event Tracking

The data you see in your Google Analytics 4 reports comes from events that are triggered as users interact with your website and/or app. For example, a page_view event is triggered each time a user views a page on your website.
Many events (including page_view) can be collected without you adding code. These events may be sufficient for your needs.
However, if you have more advanced data collection needs, you can add code to collect additional events (or create them via the user interface).

Setup Conversion Tracking

Conversions are user activities that contribute to the success of your business. Examples of conversions include making a purchase (for an ecommerce site), completing a game level (for a mobile gaming app), or submitting a contact information form (for a marketing or lead generation site).

In Google Analytics 4 properties, you measure these activities using conversion events. (In a Universal Analytics property, you use goals to measure similar activities.)

Dimensions and Metrics

Dimensions and metrics

The data in GA4 is usually displayed on a table. The row represents the value of a dimension and each column represents the value of a metric. Metric is a number that is used to measure one of the characteristics of a dimension. Dimensions are descriptive attributes or characteristics of your data.

Custom Dimensions and Metrics

Create new dimensions and metrics from event parameters. You can set up custom dimensions and metrics that get their values from the event parameters that you collect for your property.
